Emerging artist Lud is continuing to build momentum as he closes out what he calls the “First Wave” of his musical journey. Through his label NewAgeWave Recordz, Lud has been steadily introducing listeners to both his sound and his story, and his latest release, “Knew That,” marks an important moment in that evolution.
The track represents more than just another release — it’s a reflection of growth, perseverance, and identity.
A Brotherhood Built in the Studio
One of the standout elements of “Knew That” is the collaboration with artist Sosa, someone Lud considers more than just a musical partner.
According to Lud, their relationship began through a mutual connection.
“Sosa is Boobie’s little brother,” Lud explains. “Boobie brought him to the studio one time and we’ve been brothers ever since.”
What started as a simple studio introduction quickly developed into a genuine bond, something that listeners can feel when they hear the music. Their chemistry translates naturally into the track, adding an authenticity that can’t be manufactured.
The Meaning Behind “Knew That”
For Lud, “Knew That” represents the final chapter of a larger artistic rollout he’s been building toward.
“Knew That is the last chapter of this ‘First Wave,’” he says. “It’s one of my favorite songs and videos I’ve done. People are really going to see and hear how invested I am into my musical career.”
The song carries a deeper message beyond its sound. At its core, it speaks to self-reflection and growth — themes that resonate strongly with listeners navigating their own journeys.
“It’s about overcoming your past and remembering who you are,” Lud shares.
That emotional foundation gives the record weight. Rather than simply releasing music for the sake of momentum, Lud is intentionally crafting songs that connect with people on a personal level.
Understanding “The Wave”
The concept of waves is central to Lud’s artistic identity.
His label, NewAgeWave Recordz, reflects both his brand and the way he approaches music releases.
“NewAge is the brand and my music is ‘The Wave,’” Lud explains. “It comes in waves, and it comes at you like a wave.”
Instead of dropping music randomly, Lud structures his releases into phases — each wave representing a different stage in his journey and artistic growth.
The First Wave has been focused on introducing himself to the world.
“The First Wave has been loud,” Lud says. “It’s been about putting my face in front of the world, showing a little of what I can do, who I am, and what I’ve been through.”
During this phase, fans have been able to witness the early foundation of Lud’s story, his sound, and his creative direction.
What Comes Next: The Second Wave
While “Knew That” may close the first chapter, Lud is already looking toward what’s next.
The rollout for his broader vision has already begun with the release of “GlobalWave,” which dropped earlier this year on January 2nd, 2026.
“I’ve got a lot of music on the way,” Lud says. “GlobalWave started it. This has been way overdue.”
The Second Wave will bring even more music and visuals, though Lud hints that the strategy behind it will expand beyond just what listeners hear.
“We’re shooting the first ‘Second Wave’ video soon,” he explains. “But me personally, I’m focusing on getting my first solo song out. Maybe even a solo project. I’ve got other things in the works too.”
If the First Wave was about introduction, the Second Wave may be about expansion.
“A lot of things have changed since the First Wave started,” Lud says. “The Second Wave will have a lot more going on behind the scenes.”
And beyond that?
“Third Wave… y’all gonna see.”
A Journey Just Beginning
With “Knew That,” Lud is closing one chapter while opening the door to a much larger vision. The track showcases not only his musical direction but also the dedication he has toward building something lasting.
For Lud, music isn’t just about releases — it’s about movement, evolution, and momentum.
And if the First Wave is any indication, the waves that follow may be even bigger.
